You might be wondering...

What is the best area in Lisbon to stay?

It really depends on your preference and which attractions you want to visit the most! If you don't mind the 20-minute commute from Alfama to the city center, then stay there for a calmer, historical, and traditional stay. If you prefer to be closer to everything and don't mind the loud noise from bars at night, then stay in Baixa, Bairro Alto, or Príncipe Real. Another choice is to stay in the Belém, a more laid-back area that is close to the Tagus River and the famous Pastéis de Belém.

Is it better to stay in Lisbon's old town or the city center?

For my travelers who would love to experience Lisbon's historic & traditional parts, stay in Alfama with cobbled stone lanes, alleys, and Fado restaurants. Be aware that if you stay at an older Airbnb or rental home, it is probably tiny, and their pipes are very old, which may have some foul odor. If you want to be closer to bars, lively areas, and stores, then stay in the city center because Alfama is around a 13-20 minute commute by foot or bus.

These are some of the best hotels located in the center and historic part of Lisbon. There is nothing more important than finding the best stay for your vacation because you need to be well-rested after a whole day of traveling around Lisbon. All 11th hotels are a short walk to many popular attractions, so there is no need to walk too much up and down the seven hills of Lisbon! Enjoy your time in Lisbon!
