The Best Waterproof Shoes For Travel | Vessi Comfort & Style
Updated: Feb 21
Do you ever feel like hiding at home on rainy days? We all know that musty & slightly cold feeling of taking off wet socks. The feeling of wet socks or carefully stepping around water puddles to avoid getting my shoes wet is too much for me. If you feel the same way, I want to let you know I've finally found the solution!
I have recently discovered one of the best shoes out there that is completely waterproof, comfortable, and stylish.
If you have been searching for the best waterproof shoes, you've probably heard of Vessi!
The three founders of Vessi had these ideas in mind to keep our socks dry, breathable, comfortable, stylish, and environmentally friendly. I promise they have checked all the boxes and beyond with the creation of Vessi.
Thank you, Vessi, for letting me try out your shoes to spread the goodies with everyone else suffering from wet socks.

In this post, I'll be covering...
My Top Favorite Vessi Shoes I've Tried
The shoes that act like a boot. I never liked the typical hiking shoes because they look too extreme, and I'll have to bring another pair of shoes to change into.
The Stormburst is now my favorite boot shoes. These waterproof shoes have good traction, are comfortable with excellent midsole support, are made with vegan materials, and are completely waterproof.
It's the best waterproof shoes to bring when going on an adventure, on vacations with outdoor activities, and on rainy days.

great in cold weather
The Weekend Sneaker is a casual waterproof shoe made out of vegan materials. Most waterproof shoes look too much like heavy-duty or for hiking, which is too much for a casual rainy walk in the city.
This pair of shoes is my favorite for everyday use, long walks, rainy weather, and as my minimalist travel shoes. It is so versatile, which helps you save money because this pair of shoes does it all.
I recommend sizing down for Weekend Sneaker since it runs large and they do not have half sizes. I usually wear a 9, and for this specific shoe, I wear an 8.

I've tested these two pairs of Vessi on regular walking, rainy, traveling, and hiking days. It has been about four months since I tried out both shoes (Stormburst & Weekend Sneaker) before writing this post.
I have taken Stormburst to Hawaii (Kauai & Oahu), Weekend Sneaker to Spain & on Virgin Voyages. I usually travel during the off-season, which has the worst weather, so Vessi was the best pair of travel shoes for all my trips.
They are stylish to travel with because you can dress casually & go on a hike with these shoes.
One pair of Vessi shoes is good enough for your trip and saves space in your suitcase.
Rain or not, your feet will stay dry during your trip.
It is an excellent option for a long day of walking because of the dual-density midsole.
The best walking shoes I've worn in Spain
For reference, I've traveled to five different cities around Spain and mainly spent at least 14 hours walking daily. After a long day of walking, I have never felt pain while wearing the Weekend Sneaker. Also, I have flat feet and semi-wide feet as well, and usually, it is tough for me to find comfortable walking shoes.
I highly recommend bringing your Weekend Sneaker with you for your travels, especially during off seasons. Off-season travel weather can vary, and there will likely be some rain; you will be prepared if you have your Weekend Sneakers with you.
The best hiking shoes/boots
I visited Kauai first, known for being the wettest place on earth, which is true! It was always raining on one side of the island. I wore my Stormburst throughout the trip and along with my flip-flops to the beach. The temperature in Kauai was around 80F (26C) to 87F (30C) throughout the day, and there were times when it was a bit stuffy. I recommend the Weekend or other less heavy Vessi shoes if traveling to warmer places. I do find that Stormburst has excellent traction with its lugged full rubber outsole design.

Tips
How to wash your Vessi?
It is best to follow Vessi's instructions to clean your Vessi without damaging the upper knit! Listen to me: DO NOT PUT THESE SHOES IN THE WASHER; instead, find a spray bottle, microfiber towel, white vinegar, baking soda, and warm/cold water.
While washing the Vessi, it might look like it is still dirty, but once you dry the shoes completely, they will look clean. When I wore the Stormburst to Kauai, I walked into red mud and made it super red. I thought I stained the shoes because it didn't look like the mud was coming out while cleaning them. Once I dried it, it looked good as new again!
How do I pick the right size?
Every Vessi shoe is a little different. For instance, Stormburst fits true to size, and The Weekend Sneakers run a little big, which is recommended for people to size down. They do not have half sizes, so always check their sizing guide for my tips on finding the right size!
You can always return or exchange it for another size for free within 90 days, so don't worry if you need a different size!

You might be wondering if waterproof shoes...
Are waterproof shoes actually waterproof?
Not all shoes are completely waterproof; some might be water-resistant or water-repellent. But Vessi waterproof shoes are 100% waterproof with a patented knit material.
Can shoes be breathable and waterproof?
Yes, shoes can be breathable and waterproof, but not all waterproof shoes are breathable. It all depends on what they use for the inner waterproof membrane. Vessi uses Dyma-tex waterproofing technology woven into their patented knit material. The knit material has a million tiny holes that help release heat & sweat but are small enough to prevent water.
