What to Pack for Morocco in Winter | Full Packing List
If you plan to visit Morocco during the winter months, you might wonder what to pack. The weather during this time is not extremely hot or freezing cold. Mornings and nights can be chilly, while the temperature rises during the day. Packing clothes that can be layered and easily removed throughout the day is important. Additionally, packing light is more practical than bulky outfits.
If you want to better grasp Morocco's various regions and their difference in temperatures, feel free to check out my previous post regarding my trip to the country in January. Despite being known as a warm winter destination, it's crucial to be ready for colder days during the trip.
In tourist areas or bustling cities frequented by visitors, it's common to come across people wearing revealing or form-fitting clothing. Morocco Packing List for Winter:
Depending on what part of Morocco you're visiting and what kind of activities you will partake in, you must dress accordingly!
Women's Outfits for Moroccan Cities
Let's keep in mind that Morocco is a Muslim country, and it is best to dress more modestly to show respect to the locals.
Sure, you can dress how you like, but expect more staring or unwanted attention! 👀
Do wear:
Clothes that show little skin
Loose Clothes
Clothes good to layer
Lightweight Clothes
Long Dresses
Do not wear:
Short Shorts
Short Skirts
Tank Tops
V-Necks
Super tight shirts or pants
Scarf
Adding a scarf to your suitcase is a great idea! A scarf can come in handy when visiting the Sahara Desert, protecting you from both the sun and sand, or at the beach, keeping you warm from the chilly breeze. Additionally, when visiting religious sites, they can be used as head coverings. Don't worry if you forgot to pack one, as you can always find a great one at a Souk (a bazaar).
Long Pants/Long Skirts
Preferably, long/loose pants or long skirts that are great for layering on top of the thermal underwear. OR you can find chino pants or loose jeans work as well.
Loose Short/Long Sleeves
Try not to pack V-necks that expose too much skin. Opt for a round-neck shirt with sleeves. Anything that is not too revealing or tight is a good choice.
Cardigan/Light Fleece Jacket
A warm and light jacket or cardigan in these forms will keep you cozy throughout the chilly weather in the morning & night.
Comfortable Walking Shoes
Plan to walk, so it is better to wear comfortable sneakers! If you want to add something to match your outfits a bit more, then comfortable flats are also good. It is a bit dusty and sandy in the streets of Morocco so that open-toed shoes would be less ideal.
(I didn't discover Vessi until this year and wished I had them in Morocco too! If you want to know more about Vessi, check out my detailed post about it)

It is a must to have a pair of walking shoes! You will be walking everywhere~
Women's Outfits for A Night Out
Flowy Dresses/ Maxi Dresses with Sleeve
These dresses would pair well with a light jacket or cardigan. They are both modest and stylish, making them ideal for a night out in Morocco.
Men's Outfits for A Night Out
Casual Blazer
If you have plans to dine at fancy and upscale restaurants, it would be advisable to bring a blazer. However, it is not necessary to pack one if you prefer not to.
Sahara Desert Outfits
Moroccan Headscarves: The keffiyeh is a long headscarf that can cover your head, mouth, and nose area to protect it from sun, dust, and sand. (Get these in Morocco!)
Hat: A wide hat that can cover your face from the sun.
Comfortable Pants: Loose-fitting pants or jeans that will keep you warm & comfortable.
Long Sleeves & Sweater: Daytime weather is fine, but once it gets to nighttime, you are going to be cold! Remember to wear thermal underwear under!
Outerwear: A windproof/windbreaker jacket will be perfect to keep you warm.
Hiking Shoes: Any hiking shoes are good, but don't wear flip-flops or sandals because you will be riding camels. Also, wearing hiking shoes can help with avoiding blisters.
Socks: Wool socks to keep those toes warm.
Travel Essentials for Women & Men to Pack
Long Johns/Thermal Underwear
These are extremely lightweight and convenient to pack. It's always better to be prepared for unexpected cold weather, so it's wise to pack a pair of these. Layer them under your clothing for ultimate warmth and comfort.
Sandals/Slippers
While it may not be essential, having a pair of sandals on hand can be helpful for those planning to walk around accommodations like Airbnbs, Riads, or hotels that do not offer slippers. Personally, I prefer foldable slippers as they don't take up much space in my suitcase.
When packing for a trip to Morocco, it's important to consider the diverse activities and regions you'll be visiting.
